The period of time is only one day and there are gaps from the early morning to night time. Supposing that the name Eden in Nothing Gold Can Stay refers to the Garden Of Eden, then you could make a guess that they are in a big open garden where new plants and flowers sprout daily but when something dies then Eden gets sad until something new sprouts up again. Robert Frost isnt trying to hide any details from any of the readers like if he was hiding depression he would start to talk about a dark and gloomy time of the day and how every plant looks dead and that there are no new plants sprouting from the roots of the ground. If Robert Frost didnt leave out some of the facts that he left out then we would have enough information to know what the poem is about and it wouldnt give us any room to figure out what its about and to learn how to realize how to find what the poem is talking about. I think if he left out anymore information then we wouldnt have enough to know where to start when trying to figure out what the poem means.
